Our NHS still needs us.

Nurses working at the Bristol UHBW Covid Vaccination ServiceThe Covid-19 pandemic has been the most difficult challenge in history for our NHS. Staff have been working harder than ever under intensely challenging circumstances to ensure patients continue to receive the best care possible.

Whilst we remain hopeful for the day where Covid-19 is no longer a threat, at Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity we know that the impact of it will be felt by the NHS for years to come.

As the NHS charity for University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, we want you to join us as we stand behind staff as they continue to protect our friends and family long after the effects of Covid-19.

Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity CEO Paul Kearney says: “We know this is a challenging time for so many of you, yet you have continued to rally behind our NHS.

“It has been truly amazing to see Bristol unite and we need to continue this spirit to support our valuable NHS staff as they face new and increasing demands.

“Your donations will allow us to support the most vulnerable members of our community by ensuring our NHS has the tools available to deliver the best care to patients.”

Covid-19 impact: How your donations make a difference

The response we have seen from the people of Bristol, Weston-super-Mare and beyond has made a real difference to patients and staff across our hospitals throughout the pandemic. We've had marathon runners, artists and cyclists, individual donations from far and wide, and huge numbers of gifts to support staff in their time of need. We cannot thank you enough for supporting your NHS and helping to raise more than £711,000.

"I just want to say a massive thank you to everybody who's been donating to the Bristol City Centre Hospitals Appeal. This is really useful at this time when it is very challenging" - Tracey Arthur, Advanced Clinical Practictioner, Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre

With your support we have helped make an impact at Bristol's hospitals including a three-year wellbeing programme to help staff with the effects of the pandemic, staff room improvements to help staff rest and recuperate when off duty, iPads to help patients stay connected with families, cloth bags to return a loved ones belongings to their family, and more. Your donations will be used where they have the most value at the hospitals as we continue to support patients and staff whilst they continue to go above and beyond for you and your loved ones.

We know the effects of the pandemic will be felt long into the future, which is why we’ve been working with UHBW to develop a three-year wellbeing programme, over and above what the NHS can provide, including counselling and psychological support for staff.

Your support will help us continue to be there for our ten hospitals, both now and in the future.
