If you’re hosting an NHS Big Tea party, there’s plenty of ways to raise even more for Bristol’s hospitals.

Here our Community Partnerships Fundraising Officer Natalie is sharing her 10 best tips to help boost your fundraising.

KEEP IT TRADITIONAL WITH A BAKE SALE

Who doesn’t love a piece of cake?! Do some baking and charge your friends, family or colleagues per slice.

GAMES

Bring out those competitive streaks by having a range of games at your NHS Big Tea party. You could play guess the weight of the cake or number of tea bags in the jar.

You could challenge your friends to guess the biscuit while blindfolded, have a relay race to see who can fill a teapot with teabags first, or throw teabags into a mug.

Charge people per go and source some prizes for the winners.

GET PEOPLE INVOLVED

Whether you’re having a small tea party at home or getting the whole street involved, the more people you have lending a hand, the more successful your tea party will be.

From lending you mugs and table cloths to baking cakes – there’s a range of ways people can get involved.

FANCY DRESS

Why not turn your NHS Big Tea into a fancy dress party?

You could have a Mad Hatters theme and encourage your friends, family or colleagues to wear their best hat or go with a theme of your choice.

RAFFLES

Source some prizes from local businesses and sell raffle tickets to win. You could get a cake donated and auction it off to raise even more.

Don’t forget to check you are compliant with the law on the Gambling Commission website.

MATCHED GIVING FROM YOUR COMPANY

Lots of businesses will match the amount raised by their employees for charity. Why not see if your company would match what you raise or make a donation towards your fundraising?

BRIC-A-BRAC STORES

Use this as an opportunity to have a clear out and sell some second-hand goods at your NHS Big Tea party.

You could host a cloths swap and charge people for entry and refreshments.

PIMP YOUR PROSECCO, TEA OR PIMM'S STAND

Whether your tea party is traditional or a little on the wilder side, why not offer a pimp your tea, prosecco or Pimm’s stand.

You could provide biscuits, cream, fruit or decorations and leave a donation box nearby so people can give some change once they’re done.

BAKING WORKSHOP

Get your friends, family or colleagues over and provide all the ingredients to have a baking workshop at your home.

If you don’t have the space in the kitchen for everyone to bake, you could decorate biscuits or cupcakes instead.

BAKE OFF COMPETITION

Challenge you friends, family or colleagues to a bake off. They can pay to enter and once everyone has voted for their favourite, half of the money can go to the winner and half to Above & Beyond. Ready, set, bake!

Don’t forget to tag Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity in your photos so we can share your fundraising ideas and inspire others to get involved.
