A headteacher has run the 50km Thames Path Challenge to raise money for Bristol's hospitals.

Jon Cooper, the Headteacher at Redmaids High, took on the challenge on 10 September, running 50km down the Thames Path.

He ranked third in the 50k category in a time of 4 hours and 46 minutes.

Jon said: “At Redmaids High we’ve been supporting Above & Beyond in a range of different ways to help patients and staff at our hospitals. I wanted to do something to go the extra mile so I decided to run the Thames Path Challenge during the summer holidays.

“It was a tough run but I had a great day and I’m really proud of doing my bit to support our NHS.”

Previously Year 7 students at Redmaids High painted rocks to display in the gardens of Bristol Children's Hospital and the school took part in Challenge 13, a virtual challenge celebrating the staff at our hospitals.
