A team of Bristol Heart Institute (BHI) staff, their friends and family members recently completed the Cotswold 24 Hour Relay Race and have raised over £7,000 for Above & Beyond’s BHI Appeal!

The team came together earlier this year to support the appeal – each member spurred on by different motivations. The race was particularly significant to BHI physiotherapist Caroline Evans, who was treated at the hospital last year:

“The BHI is not only my place of work but has come to my rescue as a patient on several occasions”, said Caroline.

“Last year, I had an emergency admission to the CCU after collapsing from an arrhythmia. I cannot thank everyone enough for all the care, treatment and support I have been given.

“Every single member of Team BHI rose to the challenge with gusto, a huge smile and a lot of laughing. It was an absolute honour to be part of the team – we went away as colleagues and came back as good friends.”

Lydia McGivern, Above & Beyond community fundraising officer, said: “It was amazing to see so many staff from the BHI come together to raise money for the appeal. They were really dedicated to their training, even during the heatwave, and they’ve raised an amazing amount.”

Thank you to everyone that took part in the event and to those that have sponsored the team. The money raised will help ensure the BHI continues to provide the very best care and treatment for some of the UK's sickest patients.
