An opportunity to join the board of Trustees at Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity has become available.

Trustees have overall responsibility for:

  • Meeting the charity’s legal duties
  • Ensuring that it is properly managed
  • Promoting good practice in all its activities
  • Ensuring that activities are in line with core objectives and strategy.

The duties of a Trustee are:

  • Good governance
  • Strategic direction
  • Financial responsibilities
  • Acting as an ambassador
  • To support the CEO
  • Plus other responsibilities.

The board of Trustees are keen to hear from people especially with skills and experience in legal matters, fundraising and marketing as well as the following skills:

  • Setting targets, monitoring and evaluating performance and programmes in commercial and non-profit organisations
  • Financial management
  • Interest in health
  • Recruitment and personnel management, including a knowledge of employment legislation
  • Public relations
  • Trustees should ideally have a connection to the geographical area they operate within.

Trustees must attend board meetings six times a year, as well as be flexible for additional hours for sub-committees, events and visits.

Meetings are primarily held at Whitefriars, Lewin’s Mead, Bristol and can be attended remotely as and when required.

This role is not remunerated but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
