A dad has raised £3,000 in memory of his son Franklin who passed away aged just three months old.

Christian Okun cycled 40 miles from his home to the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC), followed by his family with signs to explain what they were doing and why.

His son Franklin passed away in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at BRHC after he stopped breathing in May.

Although paramedics were able to get a heartbeat after 40 minutes, the parents had to make the decision to switch off Franklin’s life support two days later.

Christian raised £3,000 to be split equally between Above & Beyond and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, who transported Franklin to hospital.

Christian said:

I wanted to show my support to those who helped us say goodbye to Franklin, in the hope that no-one else will have to go through it.

“We had hand and feet moulds made in Rainbow room with him and if it wasn’t for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the incredible staff in PICU, we wouldn’t have been able to say goodbye.

“They are true superheroes.”

Christian also did a three-hour fitness challenge, raising a further £200.
