Eligibility To receive funding from Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity, your grant application must meet our three main eligibility criteria: Whether the request falls within the charity’s funding priorities Request is over and above what the NHS and/or Trust should provide The request will pass the ‘public perception test’ – would the request be viewed as an appropriate use of charitable funds by the public or donors? What we will not consider funding requests for: Anything that is considered ‘core’ provision by the Trust/NHS – this is what is normally provided by the Trust/NHS as standard. This could be waiting room chairs or equipment such as thermometers or shelving for stock, desks for staff, etc. Retrospective funding requests Requests for individual support for patients Requests for training/education which is mandatory for staff Replacement of equipment or items which are lost, damaged, etc. Anything that would not pass the public perception test. Individual vouchers for staff as leaving gifts, thank you gifts, prizes, etc. Flowers for staff leaving, retiring, thank you, etc. Laptops or any IT equipment enabling staff to work from home or to do their job unless it is part of a larger application for a previously non-existent new post – i.e. a pilot project. How to apply for a grant For grants worth less than £250 Please submit a small grant application form, signed by a fund advisor with receipts and invoices attached. Please use the guidelines to help you fill in this form. Please note: this form is only to completed where there is not already a grant approved. For a grant already approved, please submit a reimbursement of expenses form. For grants worth over £250 Please complete a grant application form for approval. There are two forms: one for projects and one for meetings, conferences, team-building events etc. These forms need to be signed by a Fund Advisor and include evidence of costs. Once approved, you will be given a Grant Application Number which needs to be included on any reimbursement of expenses claims or invoices. For grants worth over £5,000 In addition to approval from a fund advisor, these grants also require sign off from the Divisional Director and approval from CPSG. For queries regarding the CPSG approval process, please contact Kirsty Cepek, UHBW Head of Capital Accounting. For grants worth over £10,000 In addition to approval from a fund advisor, Divisional Director and CPSG, these grants also require approval from our Board of Trustees who meet six times a year. These grants can therefore take significantly longer to process. Application forms Please note: To apply for training, education and conference funding please click here.
