Find out more about what we fund. Eligibility To receive funding from Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity, your grant application must meet our three main eligibility criteria: Whether the request falls within the charity’s funding priorities Request is over and above what the NHS and/or Trust should provide The request will pass the ‘public perception test’ – would the request be viewed as an appropriate use of charitable funds by the public or donors? What we will not consider funding requests for: Anything that should be considered 'core' provision by the Trust/NHS - this is what's normally provided by the Trust/NHS as standard. This could waiting room chairs or equipment such as thermometers or shelving for stock, desks for staff, etc. Retrospective funding requests Requests for individual support for patients Requests for training/education which is mandatory for staff Replacement of equipment or items which are lost or damage Individual vouchers for staff as leaving gifts, thank you gifts, prizes, etc. Staff social events Laptops or any IT equipment enabling staff to work from home or to do their job, unless it's part of a larger application for a previously non-existent new post, i.e. a pilot project Anything that could make the public feel their donation is not being spent appropriately (the public perception test). If you would like to informally discuss an application, please get in touch with the grants team. Grant rounds The grant round is currently open. For grants worth over £5,000 In addition to approval from a fund advisor, these grants also require sign off from the Divisional Director and approval from CPSG. For queries regarding the CPSG approval process, please contact Kirsty Cepek, UHBW Head of Capital Accounting. For grants worth over £10,000 In addition to approval from a fund advisor, Divisional Director and CPSG, these grants also require approval from our Board of Trustees who meet six times a year.
