A man plans to run for 24 hours to raise money for Bristol city centre hospitals.

Chris Greig was originally due to take part in an endurance race called Endure24 this June, but after the event was cancelled he was looking for a way to recreate it.

Now on Friday 22 May, Chris will be running for a full 24 hours around his home in Horfield.

His challenge will raise money for Above & Beyond’s Bristol City Centre Hospitals Appeal, which is supporting staff at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust as they deal with the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

Chris said: “I am very keen to raise money for the NHS but I wanted to use a charity that supports Bristol hospitals as I am a Bristol boy.

“This is the biggest challenge I have ever undertaken. I’m looking forward to experiencing the solitude of the night running and also the sunrise. I have read that the first light is an emotional moment of hope – it will certainly be very welcome.

“So much will depend on my condition, how my legs are, how I feel with little to no sleep, but I would hope to run over 60 miles – fingers and everything crossed!”
