Bristol Rovers and Above & Beyond are delighted to announce a partnership that will see the NHS charity become the Gas’ charity partner for the 2020/21 campaign.

The partnership follows the club’s donation of a substantial number of matchday tickets to NHS workers for next season, as a token of thanks for their life-saving work throughout these difficult times. Rovers are delighted to extend the focus on the NHS’s amazing staff, partnering with Above & Beyond to provide support to Bristol city centre hospital staff, as well as patients and their families throughout the next league campaign.

This partnership will see Bristol Rovers work to provide a platform to showcase Above & Beyond’s fundraising efforts and ongoing projects.

Above & Beyond is the official charity for University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. The charity raise money for the latest vital equipment, more comfortable and welcoming environments, innovative research, plus staff training and development – making a real difference to patients, their families, and the staff who treat them.

Most recently the charity has been raising money for the Bristol City Centre Hospitals Appeal – helping NHS staff during the COVID-19 outbreak and supporting innovative research into the disease.

It has also funded an MRI scanner for South Bristol Community Hospital, incubators for the neonatal intensive care unit at St Michael’s Hospital and iPads for victims of sexual abuse to use while waiting for appointments at The Bridge.

On the partnership, Commercial Director of Bristol Rovers, Tom Gorringe, said:

As a club, we are delighted to be working with Above & Beyond through the 2020/21 season to further develop our support for the NHS workers that have sacrificed so much for us all during these tough times.

"The donation of tickets provides a great foundation for the partnership, however, we look forward to building on this to support those that have supported us, show them our gratitude and help them to continue raising funds to support their efforts."

Patrick Browne, Head of Supporter Engagement at Above & Beyond, said: “We’re really excited to be the Rovers’ Charity of the Year and are I want to say a big thanks to the club for choosing us.

“All the money raised will benefit Bristol city centre hospitals and ensure patients get the best possible care.

“We’re looking forward to working with the players, staff and supporters to make this partnership a huge success.”
