Coventry Building Society has given Christmas presents to patients on an elderly care ward at Bristol Royal Infirmary.

Nik Edwards and Barbara Ozkaradas, staff at Coventry Building Society in Bristol, delivered the presents to the ward on Wednesday 19 December.

The visit was arranged by the corporate fundraising team at Above & Beyond.

Nik said: “During November and December we used our Christmas tree to hang gift tags from. On one side of the gift tag we wrote Above & Beyond and on the other side was a present that someone in the hospital would benefit from, such as toiletries, puzzle books, chocolates and biscuits.

“We then encouraged Coventry Building Society staff members and customers to take a gift tag, buy the present and then bring it back in to us.

“It was extremely popular and we had in excess of 23 presents donated. We really hope it makes a difference to those in the ward on Christmas day!”

Gemma Jenkins, corporate partnerships officer, said: “It’s so kind of all the staff at the building society to think of the elderly patients in hospital this Christmas.

“Using the tree and gifts was really creative – well done to all involved."
