A football team from the Bristol Corinthians League has donated £500 to Bristol’s hospitals.

Russell Athletic, a team for men over 35, won The Corinthian Trophy – the prize awarded to the team with the best spirit, as voted for by other teams.

The team were awarded £500 to donate to a charity of their choice and decided to donate to Above & Beyond.

John Chablo, a player for the team and governor for the UH Bristol Trust, said: “Because of my association with the hospitals, I am aware of the good work Above & Beyond do.

“The money raised goes towards improving patient care at all nine of the UH Bristol Trust hospitals.”

Paul Kearney, Above & Beyond Chief Executive, said: “I want to extend my thanks to John and the whole of the Russell Athletic team for choosing to donate their prize money to Above & Beyond.

“With donations like this we can continue to fund welcoming environments, provide world-class equipment, fund innovative research and support staff training and development.”
