A memorial ball held in honour of Libby Holliday has helped raise a total of £53,000 for charity, with £15,000 donated to Above & Beyond.

Over 350 friends, family and community members attended the fundraising ball in Flax Bourton on Saturday 20 May to celebrate Libby’s life. Libby sadly passed away in September 2016 at the age of 35 after a brave and dignified battle with bowel cancer.

Guests gathered in a beautifully decorated marquee at Libby’s family home to pay tribute to her life and to honour one of her last wishes to raise money for three local charities, Above & Beyond, St Peter’s Hospice and the Little Princess Trust, which help support cancer patients and their families.

Local businesses and individuals generously donated a number of gifts to be auctioned throughout the evening. Prizes included a week’s holiday in Loire Valley, France, a track day at Castle Coombe Racing School and VIP tickets to see Robbie Williams in concert.

The memorial ball was the culmination of months of fundraising which began when her friends took part in the Bristol Half Marathon just three weeks after Libby passed away.

The funds donated to Above & Beyond will go to the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre as a way to say thank you for the care and treatment Libby received at the hospital.
