Thanks to Kate Bradley and Keith and Fiona Richards who took on the virtual London Marathon to raise vital funds for Bristol’s hospitals.

The 40th anniversary of the event was a year like no other, with participants being asked to take on the equivalent distance of a marathon in their own way.

Kate ran the 26 miles to fundraise after being treated for a benign brain tumour at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children 17 years ago.

She said: “Running the virtual London Marathon was an incredible experience. I had the BEST day and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Bristol Children’s Hospital was such a special place for me and my family during a scary time so it is a privilege to do this for them. I have almost doubled my fundraising goal and I couldn’t be more delighted!”

Keith and Fiona walked the marathon distance around their home in North Wales. They were fundraising for the Bristol Heart Institute in memory of Keith’s brother Clive who passed away last year.

Laura Hewitt, community engagement manager, said: "A huge thanks goes to Kate, Keith and Fiona. We're really grateful for their fundraising efforts and the money they've raised will make a huge difference."
