Bristol Haematology and Oncology Clinical Trials Team cross the Jurassic Coast Challenge finish lineThe Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) clinical trials team has raised almost £1,000 by completing the Jurassic Coast Challenge.

Taking on the hike on 14th May, the team walked 10k around the Dorset coast taking in some stunning views of the sea, sand and, most surprisingly, the sun!

Bryony-Fleur Hopwood, one of the five-strong team, said:

“We had a wonderful time, the sun was out, stunning coastal views, there were sheep everywhere and it was a brilliant atmosphere! We all completed it and it was a great physical challenge to achieve. All came back with a glow from the fresh sea air and just a few ice cream stains!”

The ward where Bryony and her colleagues, Eve Watson, Ines Marcal, Emil Cano and Paula Byrne, work has benefited from Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity funding. This has included reclining chemotherapy chairs and staff training.

Emil Cano, a Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity Champion, said: "We wanted to do something for the Trust’s charity in the knowledge that whatever amount we can raise will help our patients now and in the future.

“As a Charity Champion, I know the work of the charity is very important. The work they do for the Trust is invaluable, filling the gaps where NHS finances are unable to.” said Emil.

Thanks for doing great things!
