Experienced UK guide/instructor (first aid qualified) Transport around the challenge Snacks, cake, hot and cold drinks Challenge medal Coach transfer back to your vehicle from the end point. What do I need to bring? Personal spending money Personal equipment Extra food and drinks for the challenge. How much does it cost to take part? There is a registration fee of £35 or £85 depending on which sponsorship option you choose. How much do I have to raise? There is a minimum sponsorship target of £100 or £150 depending on which registration package you choose. This is per person. If you've signed up as a team, you can work together to raise the total amount for your team. Do I get a t-shirt? You will receive a charity t-shirt or running vest as part of the event which will be sent out when you reach £100 sponsorship. (Please note we need a week to send these out). Where does the challenge start and where can I park? You will meet at the end of the Talybont reservoir - there's plenty of space for cars. We will then take coach transport to the west side of the Brecon Beacons and hike back to our vehicles. What time does it start? You will meet at 7:20 am at the end of the Talybont reservoir – and will then take coach transport to the west side of the Brecon Beacons and hike back to the vehicles. How many hours will it take? We expect the total walking time to around 11 hours although this will vary depending on abilities. A good day out! Do I need to train for this event? As a rough guide, by the challenge, you should be able to be easily walking at a pace of 4km an hour. Training for this is a great excuse to get out and go for a walk or run. There are plenty of hills nearby to get practising! To help you with training, you will be provided with a training plan from Dave Talbot Adventure Events team when you sign-up and a fully qualified guide from the team will be on hand to support you on the day. I’ve never fundraised before, and I don’t know where to start. What do I do? A online fundraising page will automatically be set up for you when you sign up and you'll receive further information and tips from our dedicated fundraising team to help you plan out your fundraising. What happens to the money I raise? The money you raise will help our hospitals and their staff to do even more to treat and care for patients and their families, wherever the need is greatest. What if I don't reach the minimum sponsorship target? By registering for this challenge you are pledging to raise the minimum sponsorship target and understand that it is the aim of this challenge to raise as much as possible for your hospitals. Further information is available in the event terms and conditions during registration. What if I can no longer take part? Unfortunately in this scenario we will not be able to refund either your registration fee or your sponsorship. What if the event can’t go ahead? Every attempt will be made by Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity and Dave Talbot Ltd to ensure that the events run, however should a cancellation of the event be unavoidable then the participant will be notified at the earliest opportunity. In this event, we will transfer your place to a new date for the event. If we need to move the event, we will still owe payment to many of our suppliers and in some cases we may need to pay twice. This could significantly impact the money raised for Bristol & Weston hospitals and, as such, we respectfully ask that if you can’t make the new date for the event that you kindly donate your registration fee.
