We are extremely grateful to all our major donors who have supported the hospitals, either personally, or through membership of a fundraising appeal board.

Many of our major donors are former patients who have found that saying ‘thank you’ through a donation has been an important part of their healing process.

Thanks to our outstanding donors, we have been able to:

  • Create the first adult Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in the South West of England. Previously, adults were treated in the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
  • Refurbish the Adult Haematology Ward in the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre providing excellent facilities for patients undergoing treatment.
  • Provide nine new individual rooms for young adults with cystic fibrosis and 16 individual rooms for older patients in the Bristol Royal Infirmary. These rooms provide privacy and isolation to prevent patients contracting and transmitting infections.
  • Create a new dedicated Children’s Unit in the Bristol Eye Hospital including a genetic eye clinic large enough for families to be seen together.
  • Support the creation of a new Retinal Treatment and Research Unit, enabling the team to see many more patients on clinical trials.
  • Open the Bristol Medical Simulation Centre to train hospital staff. The unit is a world leader in its field.
  • Every £1 we have provided to pump prime medical research has enabled clinical researchers to leverage an additional £16.

We are hugely grateful to the donors who have played such an important part in these achievements. We continue to work with donors like you to constantly provide the very best facilities and treatment options to our patients.
