John Griffin, 75, had a heart attack while on holiday in 2009 and since then has had a number of procedures at Bristol Heart Institute

To say thank you to the staff who have taken care of him, the qualified spin instructor led a 12 hour spinning challenge to raise funds for the BHI Appeal.

I am raising money for the BHI and Above & Beyond very simply because the cardiologists, their teams and all the support staff have kept me alive and able to enjoy an active life.

“Treatment has been excellent. The staff have been dedicated, committed, focused and considerate. They take great pride in their work.

The challenge took place on World Heart Day, 29 September 2018, at theclub at Cadbury House in Congresbury.

John said: "It went extremely well and was hugely enjoyable. We had a big turnout with 78 people taking part.

"The effort everybody put in was astonishing. Every hour was like a full spinning session and our average speed was 14 miles per hour.

"At the end of the day everybody felt a great sense of achievement and they were all very happy with what they had done."

Plan your fundraising challenge and support Bristol's hospitals.
