A grant from Amazon via NHS Charities Together has been used to fund Christmas treats for staff and patients at UHBW.

Above & Beyond provided a Christmas present for every patient in hospital on Christmas day, as well as a gift card to each ward across all nine hospitals the charity supports, so that every member of staff received much-needed treats this Christmas. The gift cards were to say thank you to NHS staff for their hard work throughout 2020.

Thanks to the charity and its generous supporters, every member of UHBW staff and around 1,000 patients received a present.

Charlotte Haydon, a Specialist Registrar, said: “We wanted to say a huge thank you for your generous Christmas gift to the medical juniors. We spent it on Christmas on-call survival hampers complete with good coffee, yule logs, posh chocs, fizzy juice and presents. This went a huge way to brightening up Christmas day and night for all of the on-call doctors.”

Elaine Gibson, Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager at Above & Beyond, said: “I want to say a huge thank you to NHS Charities Together and Amazon for their incredible contribution at Christmas time.

"Staff and patients appreciated the extra support so much, and we are delighted to see the impact this national partnership is having a at a local level; helping us make a real difference to patients and staff at Bristol city centre hospitals.”
