The team from gynaecology at St Michael’s Hospital have organised a cold water swimming event to raise money for Above & Beyond.

Charity Champions Bernie Greenan and Sarah Lenton came up with the idea being frequent cold water swimmers themselves.

The aim of the Dip and Give event is to get 100 people to take a 100 second dip before donating £10 to Above & Beyond via their Just Giving page.

The team at St Michael's Hospital have done their Dip and Give, with the majority heading to Ogmore Beach in Wales on Sunday to take part.

Bernie said: "It was absolutely fabulous. About 15 people took part in the dip and we had about another 15 supporting us with a ‘roadie’ team too providing hot drinks and cakes.

"The staff who had never done this before were really excited and happy that they had accomplished this personal challenge whilst fundraising for a great cause.

"They were ‘buzzing with joy’ afterwards."

The key requirements of the challenge are:

  • No wetsuits, but you can do fancy dress
  • Dip in cold water – for example the sea, a lake or a lido, for 100 seconds
  • Donate £10
  • Have fun!

Tag any photos on social media with Above & Beyond and we’ll share them with our followers.
