Along with charity staff, hospital staff, schools, companies and community groups, Dulcie the PAT (Pets As Therapy) dog, who regularly visits Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC), has also decided to join our annual National ‘Elf Service Day and help raise money for the ten hospitals across Bristol & Weston. Here's what Dulcie had to say!

Dulcie the PAT dog will join the National What is it like being a PAT dog at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children?

Being a PAT dog at the children’s hospital is exciting. I love meeting new people as well as seeing others again that have met me before. The children here give me the best cuddles!

What is your favourite thing about your job?

Getting lots of cuddles and most importantly making people smile! I am always wagging my tail when I am here. It’s a brilliant place to visit - everyone makes me feel very welcome!

How does Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity help your team/hospital?

My owner tells me the charity helps the hospital in lots of ways by buying vital medical equipment, funding refurbishment projects as well as fun things like lots of new toys and other play equipment. The department my owner works for is very grateful to them!

Why are you taking part in National Elf Service Day?

I couldn’t say no! Who wouldn’t want to dress as an elf at Christmas time, have lots of cuddles and attention with the added bonus of raising vital funds for the hospital.

What are your plans for the day?

To visit lots of areas around the children’s hospital and brighten up as many patient’s stays as I can. I also try to brighten up the day for staff, parents, carers and siblings! Lots of people always want to take me home and some children ask if I can sleep with them in the hospital!

What are you most looking forward to about National 'Elf Service Day?

I am excited to put my new costume on, looking mega cute and raising lots of money to help the hospital! My owner gives me a sausage for my tea at the end as a treat if I am good!
