26th July 2023

On Sunday 23rd July, over 800 cyclists took on the Great Weston Ride. An epic 57-mile challenge starting in Bristol, cycling all through the scenic Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels, before finishing on the seafront of Weston-super-Mare.

Some of the cyclists decided to take the challenge one pedal further by fundraising for Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity. So far, the 46 cyclists have raised over £16,000 (incl gift aid) for their local hospitals.

Fundraisers included NHS staff from the Seashore Ward at Weston General Hospital, BWHC Trustee Chris Monk, as well as local companies Deloitte and M J Patch Engineering LTDThank you to everyone who took part. Your miles really will power smiles across Bristol and Weston.
"It was super to see you all at the finishing line particularly as the sun had come out of hiding. Thanks and congratulations to everyone involved," said Chris Monk

And of course a big thank you to the GWR organiser, Darren McKimm, for choosing to support Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity in a three year charity partnership. We can't wait for the next one, the Great Exmoor Ride, in September.
