A man has walked one million steps to raise money for Bristol city centre hospitals.

Andrew Rodgers took on the fundraising challenge throughout September so say thank you to NHS staff who have 'gone a million miles for us during this pandemic'.

He said: "This was not an easy challenge but I wanted to do something to show my appreciation for everything that the NHS does.

"Above & Beyond is an amazing charity who help so many people who use the hospitals."

Andrew had to plan his steps, an average of 43,500 a day, around caring for his 11-month-old daughter.

"I knew that I would struggle to do the steps on Sunday when I look after my daughter while my partner goes to work, so I had to do a lot more steps while I was in work - 50,000 - 58,000 most days," he said.

"I didn't just do this challenge to raise money for the charity, I also wanted to make my daughter and family proud.

"I want to show my daughter that if you put your mind to it then you can achieve anything in life."

Andrew is already planning his next challenge - a solo cycle down the west coast of America.
