From October we’ll be launching with a brand-new look, logo and name to better reflect our work with all 10 of the hospitals in the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW).

So from 4 October, we'll be known as Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity. 

Why are we changing our name?

This October we will be welcoming Weston General Hospital (WGH) into our charity family. We want to ensure patients, staff and the community in Weston-super-Mare feel just as much a part of our charity as those in Bristol. 

Changing our name is the first step in demonstrating our commitment to this new community. But not only that, the name Above & Beyond has always been a bit of a hurdle for us. We’ve relied heavily on the strapline for people to make sense of who we are and what we do.  Our extensive research has shown we could reach so many more supporters and raise even more for our hospitals if we made everything clearer.

Now we’re emerging from the hardest 18 months we’ve ever faced as a charity and after everything the NHS has been through, we need a name and an identity which leaves no cause for confusion for those wanting to support their local NHS. As a small charity, a clear impactful brand identity is essential to standing out where resources for promotion and advertising are limited.

In short, it’s never been a better time to evolve our identity and ensure all hospitals in the Trust are represented fairly.

What will happen?

We’ll be keeping some aspects of the brand that our supporters have told us they like, but we’ll be bringing the charity up to date with a fresh new look and feel. We won’t be able to change everything straight away, but from October you’ll start to see our new identity online and in the hospitals. Make sure you tag us in any pics!

What does this mean for my support?

We might have a new name, but we’ll be continuing to go above and beyond for patients and staff and your donations are still incredibly valuable to us. By increasing awareness of our charity, you will be joined by thousands of new supporters and together we will do even bigger and better things for people using our hospitals today, tomorrow and in the future.
