Brew your thank you at your work with the NHS Big Tea

Thanks to everyone who has got involved to celebrate the NHS birthday in July. Bristol came together for an outpouring of love, thanks and generosity for the people who’ve gone above and beyond to care for us this year – our NHS champions!

Your NHS Big Tea party has helped raise vital funds for our charity Above & Beyond, the official NHS charity for Bristol city centre hospitals.

How to get involved

Just by putting the kettle on, you can provide improved environments for our staff. Bake banana bread and ensure the latest technology is available to staff. Or pour a cuppa and help patients continue to receive the best possible care. 

There are lots of ways your company can involved:

1. Host a tea party with your team and be in with a chance of winning a whole year’s supply of tea from Bristol Twenty Tea and Coffee Co*

Hosting a tea party on the 5th July is such an easy way to say thanks to our NHS champions. From a simple tea break to getting creative with a fancy dress themed party such as Alice in Wonderland, this is a great way to get your team together while supporting your hospitals.

Still working from home? Have a virtual tea break on zoom and we'll send you some zoom backgrounds. 

Raise money at your tea party on the day with a sponsorship form, donate via our JustGiving page or Virgin Money Giving page. You can download all fundraising materials to support your tea party below. After your event you can pay in any funds raised on the day through the ‘pay in’ button below.

2. Take 5, donate £5

If you're unable to have a tea party, why not have a well-being break at your company to take 5 and donate £5.

Simply encourage your team to take a break out of their day to enjoy a cuppa and pour out your thanks to our NHS heroes. Get out your favourite mug and biscuits to take a moment to celebrate and thank our NHS and raise money to support our amazing Bristol city centre hospitals. Need a new mug for the day? 3. Think outside the tea box

There are others ways beside a tea party you could show your support at your work: 

• Have a star baker competition - encourage the team to get involved in a bake off and score each other on the best cakes and biscuits
• Run a bake sale and donate the proceeds
• Do a sweepstake (there is one available to use in your fundraising pack) or you could create your own such as guess how many teabags or biscuits are in the jar
• Donate a percentage of your sales for the week
• Have a Virtual collection for the NHS Birthday on the 5th July
• Or go the extra mile – care package for staff (tea and/or cake) and ask your team to donate tea or make cakes

We can’t know for sure what the future holds. But one thing’s for certain, your tea party will help the hardworking staff at our hospitals as and when they need it most.

When is it?

On the 5 July at 3pm the nation will unite with a big, celebratory tea break. If this date and time doesn’t suit you though you can host on another day.

Do you have any ideas for things I could do at my NHS Big Tea party?

How much do I need to fundraise at my tea party?

There is no limit to how much you fundraise. Whatever you donate or fundraise will be hugely appreciated and we guarantee that all money raised will benefit patients and staff in Bristol. 

Can I host an online event?

Hosting a virtual tea party can be just as fun using platforms like skype or zoom. Just get everyone together on your preferred platform and get the laughter, love, and energy flowing. You could brew a game of bingo, or draw each other’s pour-traits. Or, for a game that’s as easy as A, B, Tea, see how many teabags you can all throw into an empty mug in 30 seconds. Want to stir it up a bit? Get everyone to do it blindfolded.
