When Tom was five years old, he underwent major surgery at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) to have a brain tumour removed. To mark the ten-year anniversary for the successful removal, Tom wanted to thank the staff for the brilliant care he received as a small child, and to help ensure even more children have the chance to lead as normal a life as he has.

Tom set out to raise £5,000 through sponsored walks, a school disco, a charity football match and other smaller activities and collections.

I’m always asked why I fundraise for Above & Beyond and it’s simply because I want to repay the doctors and nurses for saving my life all those years ago, and for the fantastic work they continue to do every single day. What better way to celebrate being alive than organising fun events, meeting new people and helping a fantastic cause at the same time.

±Tom at his Tom finished his fundraising in September 2016 with a fundraising concert ‘Written in the Stars’. Tom not only organised the entertainment for the evening - including getting Sony Classical recording artist and Britain's Got Talent finalist Charlotte Jaconelli to perform - but also sought out great prizes for an auction and raffle, to raise as much money as possible for his cause.

A massive thank you to Tom for all the time and effort he has put into his fundraising over the past two years.
