A third of our work is made possible by gifts in wills

Legacy gifts are a key source of funding, without which, many of the improvements made across our hospitals that go above and beyond what the NHS could provide, would simply not be possible.

Your gift to Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity will be used wherever the need is greatest, or you can specify a hospital or area of work. Your legacy will support UHBW and the ten hospitals in Bristol city centre, South Bristol and Weston-super-Mare.

Gifts in wills were vital to help us raise £6m for our Golden Gift Appeal which transformed the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) and the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC).

We have also been able to support scholarships for nurses to improve patient care.

We are so grateful to our incredible supporters who have generously left gifts to our hospitals in their wills.

BWHC Arrow iconFrances Cony, a local artist who passed away in 2013, kindly left two gifts to us in her will. Her brother Chris said,

Frances was a generous person, who experienced first-hand the difference that Above & Beyond make in the hospitals. She is missed by many, not just her family.

Another generous legacy made to the Bristol Eye Hospital (BEH) contributed £500,000 to improvements. A new dedicated Children's Unit was created, as well as a new retinal Treatment and Research Unit bringing research and treatment more closely together, so the team can see many more patients on clinical trials.
